The artist - Matt - has an incurable genetic disease known as SynGap1 - and as a result has severe intellectual & developmental disabilities.  There are less than 1500 people in the world known with SynGap1 - and Matt is the second oldest known in the world - as this genetic disease has only be identified within the last few years.

We are so excited to be auctioning off one of Matt's paintings. These truly are one-of-a-kind and must have pieces! 

"My name is Matthew J. Feldman. I am the second oldest person in the world known with a “rare” genetic disorder known as SynGap1. SynGap1 is the cause of my intellectual and developmental disabilities, and has only been identifiable in the last few years due to advances in whole Exome genetic research.  There is no current cure for my disorder.

However, my artwork is a way for me to help fund research for a future cure of SynGap1 and to help provide support for a special set of nonprofits that I believe in. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of my artwork goes directly to these nonprofits.  

My paintings seem to speak to people, and I have been fortunate to win art competitions across our counties and across New York State. I love rescued animals and that’s why I chose Animal Care Sanctuary to receive 100% of the proceeds from the sale.
